Looking for Advice on Building a Surprise Gaming PC for My Husband’s 30th Birthday

I'm planning a special surprise for my husband's 30th birthday by building him a gaming PC. I want to make this a memorable gift since he's a huge gamer, playing titles like Baldur's Gate, Elden Ring, and Fallout. However, I know nothing about PC components or where to start! I'm curious if there are specific sites I should buy the parts from and what components would be good for a budget between $1,000 and $2,800. I'm excited to get the ball rolling and appreciate any advice!

Prices can vary a lot right now, especially with RAM and SSDs. Sometimes pre-built systems can be cheaper due to market fluctuations. If you can access a Micro Center, they have some great deals. Always consider your budget; $1,000 is decent, but $2,000 will get you an amazing setup! And remember, monitor costs aren’t included in that!

I didn't realize the price variations were so wild! I'll definitely check out Micro Center since it’s only an hour away. Thanks!

That's an awesome idea for a birthday surprise, but just a heads up—surprising someone with a PC they didn't choose can be a bit tricky. Many gamers enjoy selecting their own parts, so it might be better to give him a gift certificate or plan to build it together. This way, he can pick exactly what he wants, and it'll still be a thoughtful gift! What about starting with a gift card and having a fun shopping day together?

That makes a lot of sense! I want him to love what he gets, and it's definitely a fun idea to build it together. Thanks for the suggestion!

Check out pcpartpicker.com; it’s a great tool for finding the best prices on components. You can also get some wonderful community support at forums like buildapcforme, where you can share questions about budget, location, and needs, and the community will help you create a build list. It's super user-friendly!

Starting with your budget is key! If you find a Micro Center, that's ideally where to shop. But stores like Amazon and Best Buy are also solid options. It's also good to think about his style preferences—does he lean towards flashy components, or is he more minimalistic?

He definitely loves the vibrant builds with lots of lights! I’m super excited to find something that fits his style and budget!
