Hey everyone! I'm just getting started with PC building and could really use some help figuring out which components to choose. I'm planning to use a Palit RTX 5080 for my gaming rig, but I'm not sure what CPU and motherboard would be the best fit to maximize performance. Any suggestions for a solid combo? Thanks in advance!

It really depends on your budget. With a 5080, you'll need to spend a bit more. If you're going for AMD's latest platform (AM5), that's definitely the way to go for future proofing and performance. For gaming at 1440p or 4k, I’d recommend the 9800x3d for higher-end builds, 9600x for mid-range, or the 7800x3d. That last one is a pretty solid choice if you want great gaming performance!
I wouldn't call the 7800x3d mid-range, especially for gaming! Since you’re likely going to be running other apps alongside games, I'd suggest the 7800x3d. But if you're doing heavy tasks like video rendering, then leaning towards the 9600x or 9700x would be better. With the 5080, your budget’s looking good for the 9800x3d as the best option to go for!
What's your budget for the entire setup? Do you need just the processor and motherboard, or are there other parts you need to consider like RAM?
I'm focusing on just the processor and motherboard for now, and my budget is around 2300 Swiss francs.

How much do you think I'd need to spend for a solid 4k gaming setup? Is 2300 CHF enough?
