Hey everyone! I'm at the point where I need to upgrade my computer, specifically the motherboard, CPU, and DDR5 memory. I have a budget of $750 for these components. Just to give you some context, I mostly play modded Skyrim and recently started Oblivion Remastered. I aim for 1440p gaming and sometimes run into crashes, so I'm looking to improve performance as much as I can.
For my existing setup, I'm reusing a GTX 3080 GPU, a Super Flower VII XP Pro 1000W power supply, and I have a few SSDs that I'll be keeping for game storage and OS.
In the future, I plan to upgrade my GPU down the line, but that is likely a year or more away. So if you have any recommendations for an AM5 motherboard, a good CPU, and DDR5 RAM (I've heard Hynix A-die is solid), your input will be greatly appreciated!

Hey! I put together a solid build that focuses on quality components. It also features the Ryzen 7 7800X3D and emphasizes using good-quality RAM from G.Skill. This setup offers great performance even if you tweak the RAM settings a bit. You may be looking at prices around $750 to $780, depending on what you find. Just a tip, if your EXPO profile doesn’t boot at 6400, dial it back to 6200 or 6000 MHz, and you should be fine. This build should be future-proof for a good while!
Hey! I found a great combo for you that comes in just under your budget. You could go for the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D CPU for around $391, which is one of the best for gaming right now. Pair that with the Gigabyte B850 AORUS ELITE motherboard at around $240, and 32 GB of Silicon Power DDR5-6000 RAM for about $85. That brings you to a total of about $716! This setup should handle your gaming needs at 1440p really well! You might want to check it out on PCPartPicker to make sure prices still match up!
I recommend a slightly different setup. You could use the same Ryzen 7 7800X3D CPU for $391, but I’d suggest the MSI MAG B850 TOMAHAWK MAX motherboard for around $231. For the RAM, go with TEAMGROUP T-Force Vulcan, 32 GB DDR5-6000, which should cost about $90. This totals around $747, keeping you well within budget. This combo has excellent performance and should serve you well for a long time!
That's awesome! By the way, what's the third-best gaming CPU from AMD currently?
