Looking for Affordable Power Supply Options for My PC Upgrade

I'm planning to upgrade my Aspire XC-780 by swapping out the GT 720 graphics card for a GTX 1070. I know that my i5-7400 CPU is a bit dated and might not be the best match, but honestly, I'm just looking to enjoy some decent gameplay on older titles from 2015. The catch is, I need to find a cost-effective power supply that can support this change. My current power supply is between 200-250 watts, and I want something from a reputable brand without breaking the bank. Any suggestions for the minimum wattage required for this setup?

Honestly, I wouldn’t stress too much about the CPU bottleneck here; both the i5-7400 and GTX 1070 are from roughly the same time, and they should work well together for what you're aiming to do. As for the power supply, I used a 600W PSU without any issues on my setup with an i5-6500 and a GTX 1070, so something in that ballpark should be fine. Just a heads up, make sure to check if your prebuilt system uses a proprietary power supply, as that might limit your options for upgrades.

Don't worry about the English; you're doing great! There are plenty of affordable PSU options out there. Just look for ones with good reviews, especially in terms of reliability over time. Plus, double-check your connections; if the current one is proprietary, you might need an adapter to fit a standard PSU.

You might actually want to look for a 500W PSU just to be safe, especially if you're planning to increase your gaming performance. Brands like Corsair or EVGA have some solid options that won't cost you a fortune. Just make sure to verify the connections needed for your motherboard and GPU.
