Looking for Alternatives to the Ryzen 7 5700X3D CPU

Hey folks! I'm gearing up to upgrade my old Ryzen 5 3600 CPU, which is definitely starting to show its age. I had my sights set on the Ryzen 7 5700X3D since it looks like a fantastic choice for gaming right now. However, it's completely sold out everywhere in Germany and the EU—I've been waiting for weeks and it's beyond frustrating!

I need some recommendations for good gaming CPU alternatives, preferably ones that won't break the bank. Ideally, I'd love to stick with the AM4 platform to avoid the hassle of getting a new motherboard and RAM. But if there's something significantly better available on a different platform, I'm open to that as well.

For context, my current setup includes:
- AMD Ryzen 5 3600 CPU
- 32GB DDR4 RAM
- Radeon RX 7800 XT GPU (16GB)

I'm looking to keep my CPU around the same price point as the 5700X3D, maybe slightly more if it's worth the upgrade. Thanks a bunch for any advice!

I managed to snag an R9 5900X for a decent price a little while back, and it's been great for gaming. Definitely worth checking out if you can find one.

If the prices of the scalpers are giving you a headache and you're not looking to switch to AM5, then you're mainly left with the 5800X or the 5800XT.

The Ryzen 7 5800X is a fantastic option! I found it on Amazon for about £140 in the UK, so it should be available at a comparable price in Germany. It's a solid choice for gaming and should serve you well!

Yeah, but I'd recommend the 5700X instead. It’s only 5-7% slower than the 5800X, but it runs much cooler thanks to lower power consumption.

For AM4, you've pretty much got two options: either a used 5700X3D or the 5800X3D. Those are your best bets!

Stick with either the 5700X or the 5800X. I went with the 5700X after upgrading from a 3600 and it's running smoothly, especially when overclocked to around 4.6 GHz. Just keep in mind the X3D chips; they’re out of production now and can get pricey.
