Looking for an affordable device for NFC access at my school

I'm currently using the Transact eAccounts mobile credential system for building access at school. I want to avoid using my main phone for this task and I'm searching for a budget-friendly secondary device (less than $100) that can just stay in my bag and act as a keycard. Ideally, I prefer it to be Wi-Fi only, so I don't have to deal with a SIM plan. Any suggestions?

If you're looking for a simple solution, you might ask your school if they can issue you a standard NFC card. Alternatively, you could grab a cheap flip phone for about $20 and use that as your keycard device. If it's setup correctly, you shouldn't really need anything fancy.

I think they use mobile credentials because they're constantly updated, which would make a standard NFC card outdated pretty quickly.
