Hey everyone! I'm on the hunt for a new asset management solution for our IT team. Right now, we're using PDQ Deploy, Lansweeper, and ITGlue, and while they do the job, I've hit some roadblocks. For instance, PDQ doesn't come with PDQ Connect because of budget issues, and we can only track devices when they're physically in the building or connected to our VPN.
I'm interested in finding a solid agent-based asset management tool that can pull all these functions into one platform—covering asset management, inventory, software deployment, reporting, etc. However, any new application has to get the green light from our Corporate team due to strict security policies, and they've already turned down ConnectWise products based on our pitch.
We were impressed with Quest K1000 SMA during a demo; it seemed to fit our needs perfectly. Unfortunately, it runs on FreeBSD, which isn't allowed in our environment, and it'll likely be rejected. So, I'm reaching out to see if anyone has recommendations or knows of alternatives out there. If you've had any experience with KACE K1000 SMA or similar solutions, I'd love to hear about comparisons or options we should consider!

AssetSonar might be right up your alley! It has an agent and integrates with MDMs, plus it features network discovery, so it should help you track everything you need.
Have you looked into GLPI? It has an agent that can inventory all your devices, so it might be worth checking out.
I’d suggest trying Endpoint Central from ManageEngine. We've been using it for a bit, and it's been fantastic! It’s cost-effective and covers a lot of what you're looking for.
Just a heads up, managing 1,600 endpoints with both agent-based and non-agent-based devices can be tricky. Make sure any solution you choose can handle that scale!
