Hey everyone! I recently noticed that the Microsoft Remote Desktop app has been delisted, and now I can't find an offline installer for it. I've been forced to use the Windows App, which is quite frustrating since it requires a Microsoft account just for basic RDP. I already have the Microsoft Remote Desktop app installed on my current machine, but I'm wondering if there's a way to install it on another computer? Is there an offline installer available somewhere, or can I extract the installer from my current installation? Any help would be appreciated!

Have you tried RDCMan? It's a lightweight tool for managing multiple remote connections and I find it quite handy for organizing connections without a lot of clutter.
That app is officially end-of-life now. You might want to use older ways to connect like RDP or try out third-party options like mRemoteNG or Royal TS. Both offer quite a lot of functionality!
I second mRemoteNG! It’s been good for my Linux setup, and it works fine for RDP too.
Absolutely love Royal TS! Helps me keep everything in order.
If you're looking for an alternative to Microsoft Remote Desktop, you might want to check out Devolutions RDM—it's really user-friendly and has great features. I've been using their free version for a while and even transitioned to their server product for work.
Yeah, I've been using the free version, too! It’s nice to categorize servers in tabs and has tons of customization options.
I agree! It’s a bit buggy under unstable connections, but overall a solid choice.
I had luck finding a direct link to the older version of the app through some download sites. You can also check out rg-adguard.net by entering the Microsoft app link, it might help you find an outdated version, just be cautious as it’s not officially supported anymore.
That URL expired for me. Any suggestions for alternatives?
The Microsoft Remote Desktop store version is gone, but there's still a downloadable MSI version available directly from Microsoft until March 2026. It's pretty much the best option right now, especially if you need something reliable.
Good point! The MSI version does have some solid support, especially if you're not looking to move onto the newer versions.
I didn’t know there was still an MSI! That might be my best bet.
I can see how that might work, but I feel like mRemoteNG is a bit more versatile for my needs.
