I'm diving into a new project that's a bit unique, and I'm hoping to find a straightforward solution to help streamline our asset tracking at work. Our company manages around 10,000 pieces of equipment across 13 locations, with a central hub for operations. We have five main units across three different manufacturers, each using scan tags or QR codes for inventory management, which we currently log in a spreadsheet. The challenge comes from the sheer volume of units moving between locations daily, making it tough for us to know what's available at each site without digging through data.

We're frequently getting units returned for repairs and purchasing new inventory to meet demand. What I need is a system that allows staff at each office to easily scan a unit and check it in or out, similar to checking out a book from a library, while also enabling the transfer of units between locations and marking items that are out for repairs. This needs to be user-friendly to ensure everyone can adopt it easily. Eventually, we want to expand the system to track detailed information like which customer has an item and the usage time for each unit since they require repairs after a certain number of uses. The immediate priority is establishing a structure for managing basic movements and scanning unit numbers efficiently.
