I'm using POP_OS 22.04 on my System76 laptop and I'm searching for a backup solution that doesn't require me to reserve a significant chunk of my hard drive (over a third) just to create a single backup. Any recommendations?

If you're looking for something a bit different, check out Borg itself. It's solid, though not exactly like Deja Dup, it manages backups very efficiently.
Just curious, are you backing up to an external drive? That could free up some space on your main hard drive for backups.
Have you thought about using btrfs snapshots? They're efficient and might suit your needs without wasting too much space.
Yeah, I get that! But just a heads-up, I can't afford any external media right now, so I'm trying to stick to just the main hard drive.
I recommend giving Vorta a try. It's a graphical interface for Borg, and you can set up multiple backup profiles. One can back up to your NAS, another to a USB drive, and you can even back up specific files from your second SSD. It’s a great way to keep things organized and doesn’t require massive space like Deja Dup.
