Looking for Better Speech-to-Text Programs for Accessibility

Hi everyone, I'm reaching out for recommendations on speech-to-text software that works better than Google's option, especially for users with disabilities. I have terminal cancer and an autoimmune disorder that makes my hands cramp and seize, so texting has become really tough for me. I use an Android phone, and I find Google's speech recognition to be quite frustrating — it often misinterprets what I say, even when I speak clearly. If anyone has suggestions for programs that might be more effective, preferably free but I'm open to paid options too, I'd really appreciate it! Thank you!

You might want to check out Futo. It runs locally, so no internet connection is needed, and it avoids those annoying pauses and fillers like Google does. They even have a specific Futo keyboard for added convenience. You can find a review of the Voice to Text functionality here: [timestamped review link]. Louis Rossman is involved with them, which gives me confidence in their quality.

As a nurse, I frequently use Dragon Medical. It's usually very accurate, provided I don’t slur my speech. However, it is quite pricey, over $2,000 with the microphone included! The consumer version, called "Professional," is around $600 now. It's primarily a Windows program, though, so keep that in mind.

Thanks for the tip! I could manage the $600 especially since I’ll need it long-term. I wonder if there’s a mobile compatible version, but it's good to know I have my laptop in the mix too.
