I'm putting together a new PC build using some parts from a friend's old setup. He gave me a Prime X670E Pro Wifi motherboard, a Ryzen 9 7900X CPU, and 32GB of DDR5 RAM. My current rig has a two-year-old Intel i7 and DDR4 RAM, along with an RTX 3080 Ti. I'm planning on transferring the GPU and might keep the SSD for a future Plex server. Now, I'm wondering what PSU, CPU cooler, and case I should grab to complete this build. I've been procrastinating on this for a year and a half, and since my monitor just broke, I figure it's finally time to invest in some new PC gear. Is it even worth building this setup, or should I just buy a pre-built system instead?

Nice score on those components! With a Ryzen 9 and a 3080 Ti, your gaming rig is going to rock. Definitely go for at least a 750W PSU; 850W would be even better. Check out the PSU tier list to make sure you get something that’s solid. As for cooling, anything Thermalright that costs above $40-$45 will handle your CPU without any issues. The case really depends on your style, so pick something you love!
You're in great shape with those parts! Just grab a new case, a power supply, and an SSD, and you'll be all set. No need to even think about a pre-built. For cases, check out the Phanteks Pro Ultra or the Lian Li V100R. For the power supply, a 750W or 850W should do the trick, and those can be found in the RM750x or RM850x series. You can get everything for under $400!
You're saving a lot by reusing parts, so building it makes way more sense than going for a pre-built. If funds are tight, consider just replacing your current CPU, motherboard, and RAM for a solid upgrade. Your old i7 is plenty powerful for a Plex server without needing a dedicated GPU, too!

Do you have suggestions for a good CPU cooler? I haven't built a PC since the days of my GTX 970!
