Looking for Budget Wildcard SSL: Any Suggestions?

I'm in need of a wildcard SSL certificate for *.example.com that I can use across multiple servers (both Windows and Linux). I'm considering AWS Certificate Manager but want to know if I can download the SSL files and private key from ACM. I'm aware that I don't want to use Let's Encrypt since I prefer not to deal with 3-month renewals. If ACM isn't the way to go, could anyone recommend other wildcard SSL providers that are priced around $149 a year or less, and ensure compatibility in other countries?

I see your point on Let’s Encrypt, but just so you know, it can be automated, so you really don't have to keep renewing it manually. As for ACM, they do offer free certificates, but you won't be able to download them to use on your own servers. They’re restricted to AWS services. You can upload custom certificates, though!

Exactly! If you want full control over your certificate, consider looking into dedicated SSL providers instead of strictly sticking with ACM.

Just a note on the future of SSL: even paid certs will likely have shorter lifetimes, so automating your SSL management is the way to go! It's better to set things up once rather than keep dealing with renewals every year. 😅

Just a heads up, all SSL certificates are moving towards shorter validity periods, like around 40 days. If you're starting fresh, it might be best to automate the renewal process now to save yourself some hassle later on!

If you want to avoid renewing, using automation with Let’s Encrypt is still a great option. Even though they’re free, you can set it up so it renews automatically! Regarding ACM, I've heard they might have different pricing, but using their certs outside of AWS won't be possible. So, you might have to look at other SSL providers that fit your budget.
