Hey everyone! I'm a 22-year-old Linux Tech Support Engineer feeling a bit stuck in my current job. I've developed solid troubleshooting skills, and I owe a lot of my improvements to ChatGPT. My ultimate goal is to transition into a DevOps or Cloud Engineer position, especially focusing on cloud infrastructure management and building. I have a strong grasp of Linux and some experience with Windows Server and AWS. Since my current job has a bond ending in 6 months, I want to make the most of this time. Can anyone suggest a 6-month roadmap for making this transition? I'd love insights on the skills I should learn, certifications that could help, and projects to work on to be more marketable for these roles. Thanks for your help!

Hey! First off, it's great that you want to transition to DevOps/Cloud! A solid roadmap would include gaining strong proficiency in AWS or Azure, so consider getting certified in one of these platforms. Start with the AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate or the Azure Fundamentals certification. Besides that, dive deep into CI/CD tools like Jenkins or GitLab CI, and pick up some scripting skills in Bash or Python. Finally, work on personal projects, maybe set up a mini cloud infrastructure or simulate deployment processes to showcase in your portfolio.

I agree with CloudExplorer99! Also, consider learning infrastructure as code tools like Terraform. This really helps in managing cloud environments. Participating in open-source projects related to DevOps can enhance your resume too. You can also look into containerization with Docker and orchestration with Kubernetes. All these skills are highly sought after in the industry and can make a big difference when applying to new roles!

Thanks for the suggestions! I’ll definitely look into Terraform and Docker.
