I'm currently using an Intel i9 9900KF with a Gigabyte Z390UD motherboard. My motherboard recently failed, and I replaced it with another Z390UD for $200. I've just realized that I can't upgrade my CPU any further on this platform, so I'm considering upgrading both my CPU and motherboard. What would you suggest? Should I also switch to DDR5? By the way, I also have a 3060 Ti graphics card.

Make sure to check if you want to stay Intel or switch to AMD. If you stick with Intel, something like the i5-12600K would be an excellent choice, but it’ll push you closer to that $400 cap. Either way, moving up to DDR5 is nice but could be overkill for now.
First off, what’s your budget for the upgrade? That’ll help narrow down the options. You mentioned $400, which is a decent range for a solid upgrade.
If you're looking to stay under $400, I'd recommend going for a Ryzen 5 5600X paired with a good B550 motherboard. It's a great combo for both gaming and productivity. You’ll want to upgrade to DDR4 RAM since DDR5 can be more expensive and isn't as vital for most games right now.
