I have a Ryzen 5 3600X paired with an ASUS GA15DH_G15DH motherboard, and I'm realizing it's not compatible with many CPU upgrades. I'm planning to upgrade but want to avoid spending a ton of money on a new CPU and motherboard. I also have a 4070 Super, and I suspect it's getting bottlenecked by my current setup. Any suggestions on affordable upgrade paths?

Since this is a pre-built system, it might be tricky. Try looking up the exact model of your motherboard—you might find it’s a typical consumer board that has BIOS updates available. As for an upgrade, a second-hand Ryzen 5800X could work wonders with your GPU.
If you're on a budget, a Ryzen 5700X is a good choice. Just check the motherboard version to ensure it’s compatible as some boards won’t support updates past 2020. If you're in Canada, be wary of eBay's shipping fees; it might be more convenient to grab a chip from a local store like Best Buy.
Your system has a B450 motherboard, so with a BIOS update, you should be able to use Ryzen 5000 series CPUs. Just make sure to check for that before making any purchases. You could also look for a cheaper option in the 5800X chips, they’re selling around $280 on eBay right now, maybe worth considering if you're okay with used parts.
How would I check what version my motherboard is?
Have you checked if there's a BIOS update available for your motherboard? If ASUS provides one, you could use a Ryzen 5800X, which is a solid upgrade from the 3600X. If that's not an option, though, you're kind of stuck without a Ryzen 5000 support.
I looked around and found that it only supports up to BIOS version .303/.304, which doesn't allow for 5000 series support.

It just says GA15D on it, not much info.
