I'm searching for recommendations on email archiving and filing solutions that support APIs. I have a client in the construction industry who needs to archive emails by project due to long retention periods related to legal claims. Each project can accumulate thousands of emails over the years, and users should be able to file or send emails into specific project folders. We've considered MailManager, but it lacks API support, complicating potential integrations with existing scripts or development efforts. Any ideas or alternatives would be greatly appreciated!

I’m currently trying out MailArchiva, which offers a REST API. So far, it seems to work well for our needs, even though scripting isn't my top priority right now. It might be worth checking out!
NetDocuments could be a good fit! It has API support and comes with Outlook add-ins that help you file emails straight into project folders. The add-ins even predict where you should file emails, which is a nice feature. Not my personal favorite, but it definitely checks a lot of boxes for your requirements.
Have you looked into CloudFiler? They offer API support, and we considered switching from MailManager to them. Just a heads up, they didn't have a US-based data center last I checked, but I think they promised to update us about it. You can get more info on their API [here](https://help.cloudfiler.io/API).
You might want to consider a more holistic approach. Email's not really made for project organization, so you might want to look into dedicated project management software that can integrate with email functionalities. That said, if your client insists on using email, building local servers for archiving could be an option, albeit a more complex one.
That’s a solid point! A dedicated system could streamline a lot of their processes.
