Hey everyone, I'm putting together my first PC build and I'd love some expert opinions on my parts list. I'm looking to use Linux primarily and aim for some 2K gaming. Here's what I have so far:

- AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D 4.7 GHz 8-Core Processor - 639.00 CAD
- Cooler Master Hyper 212 Black Edition CPU Cooler - 43.99 CAD
- Asus TUF GAMING B850-PLUS WIFI ATX Motherboard - 294.99 CAD
- Kingston FURY Beast 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 Memory - 629.46 CAD
- Crucial P310 2 TB NVME SSD - 319.99 CAD
- Radeon RX 9070 XT 16 GB Video Card - 1029.99 CAD
- Corsair FRAME 4000D RS ATX Mid Tower Case - 104.99 CAD
- Corsair RM850e 850 W Fully Modular Power Supply - 184.99 CAD

The total comes to 3167.39 CAD on Newegg. The estimated wattage from Newegg is 700W, but Part Picker says it's only 545W. What do you think? Are these parts compatible? Is this a bad, decent, or good deal? Any suggestions for improvements or alternatives?

This build looks pretty solid overall! You might want to compare prices for the RAM, as there are often better deals in Canada. I’d suggest using PC Part Picker to hunt for discounts. As for storage, it's on the pricier side right now due to shortages, so it’s really up to you whether to go for the 2TB. I’d recommend keeping an eye on prices; you might find 1TB is enough for now. Also, just a heads up—make sure you're setting your display resolution right! 2K is technically 2048x1080, but for gaming, you're likely aiming for 1440p, which is a solid move with this setup!

Awesome, thanks for taking the time! I’ll check out some RAM deals. Also, yeah, I got 2K and 1440p mixed up—super excited about the build!

Consider upgrading your CPU cooler. The Hyper 212 is a bit outdated and does fine for lower-end CPUs. Something like the Thermalright PA120 would serve you better for a high-performance CPU like the Ryzen 7. If you want a quieter or cooler experience, definitely look into that.

I noticed a warning about that and replaced it with a Peerless Assassin SE V2 2025—should be good now, right?
