I've been using various AIs like Perplexity, ChatGPT's deep research feature, Claude, and Gemini 2.5 Pro to create study materials for my course. While I've had some success, Kimi, Qwen, and DeepSeek didn't meet my expectations. ChatGPT's deep research function seems to outperform the rest. Are there any other AIs available for free that can help with deep research in generating study materials?

You might want to check out Grok; it can provide some solid info, though I'd say nothing tops Gemini 2.5 Pro. It really offers a vast array of material when you need it.
I just gave Grok a shot too and found it to be pretty good, but yeah, Gemini is definitely a step ahead in terms of depth.
I'm curious why you tried Qwen and DeepSeek if they don't even have deep research features yet. Though I heard deep research is coming to Qwen soon.
My main focus was on creating study materials. Deep research is great for that, but I can manage without it if needed.
Perplexity is also a decent option if you haven't used it yet. It might be worth exploring for your needs.
