Hey everyone! I'm seeking some advice on upgrading my GPU for my AM5 build. I'm trying to beat potential price increases next year, especially after just finishing my build amid the RAMpocalypse. Here's what I'm currently working with:
- **CPU**: AMD 9950x3d
- **GPU**: 2080ti 11 Gb (Not sure of the exact model)
- **Motherboard**: X870 Aorus Elite Wifi7
- **RAM**: G.SKILL 32G 2X D5 6000 C36 FX B
- **PSU**: Montech Century 2 1200W
- **Storage**: 1Tb Sabrent Rocket NVMe (5000 MB/s), 1Tb T-Force Vulcan Z SATA 3 SSD (559 MB/s), 4Tb Toshiba HDD
I primarily use my PC for gaming, along with 3D rendering, video editing, and multitasking, which is why I chose the 9950x3d.
I'm looking to upgrade my GPU, hoping for something significant without spending over $750. I've been eyeing the 9070XT and RTX 5070 but am unsure if it's worth the investment given the current pricing. My 2080ti has served me well, but I'd like to future-proof my system. Any recommendations or insights would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I’d recommend checking out the RTX 5070 Ti. I bought a PNY 5070 for $550 about five months back, and it’s fantastic for 1440P gaming. It runs everything smoothly on my system too! If you’re looking to spend more, the 5070 Ti is a solid upgrade option. Just make sure you can find it around that price range for the best value.
Considering your current setup, is the 2080ti actually holding you back at the moment? If it’s performing well enough, you might want to wait for the next Nvidia GPU refresh. If you need something right now, the 5070Ti is a solid choice, but it can be pricey. If you are looking for value, the 9070XT is good too, but remember it may lack some of the software benefits that Nvidia offers.
If you're into rendering and video editing, I'd lean towards Nvidia. The 5070 Ti has an MSRP of about $750, and if you can snag it at that price or close, I'd say go for it. It’s a worthwhile investment, especially if you plan on doing more intensive tasks!
