Hey everyone! I'm new here but I often check this place out for insights. I'm in the market for a much-needed GPU upgrade after running a GTX 970 temporarily due to some issues with my old GPU. I'm based in Norway and my budget is between €1200 and €1500 (around 14,000–17,000 NOK). I mainly game at high refresh rates, ideally 1440p. Is this budget appropriate, or should I consider something more expensive?

Here are my current specs:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X (3.8GHz, 8C/16T)
- Motherboard: ASUS ROG STRIX B550-XE
- RAM: 32 GB DDR4
- Current GPU: NVIDIA GTX 970
- PSU: EVGA Supernova 750 G6, 80+ Gold, 750W
- Case: Fractal Design Define S (mid tower with good airflow)
- Monitors: I currently have dual 1080p 60Hz and I'm planning to upgrade one to a 1440p 144Hz soon.

My goals are to achieve smooth performance at 1440p 144Hz in modern games, maintain quiet and cool operation (preferably from well-cooled AIB models), have decent ray tracing & DLSS/FSR support, and ensure it has long-term value since I don't plan to upgrade again anytime soon.

I'm uncertain whether to go for options like the RTX 4080 Super, 4070 Ti Super, or RX 7900 XTX. I'd also like any advice about my monitor upgrade plans. Thanks in advance!

I’d suggest looking into the 5000 series from Nvidia or the 9000 series from AMD. The older generation cards are nearly the same price as new but offer better performance. For your setup, a RTX 5070 Ti should work perfectly with your Ryzen 5800X. That combo will handle any game at 1440p without a hitch! Your CPU, motherboard, and RAM will serve you well for a few more years too.

Awesome, thanks! Should I consider the 5080 at all?
