Hey everyone! I'm relatively new to PC gaming, having mostly played on consoles in the past. I built my first PC during the COVID pandemic, but I feel like it's starting to show its age. I treated myself to an AMD Radeon 9060XT after a good semester to upgrade from my struggling 2060 Super, but I'm getting far fewer frames than I expected based on videos and what my friends are getting. For instance, they're hitting around 190+ frames while I'm only reaching about 90-100 on the same settings.
Here are my current specs:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600X 6-Core
- RAM: 32GB of DDR4 (2133 MT/s)
- Motherboard: ASUS TUF GAMING X570-PLUS WIFI
- GPU: AMD Radeon 9060XT
- PSU: RM750x
- Storage: 1.81TB HD, 464 GB SSD
I apologize for my lack of knowledge about computers. I appreciate any advice you can offer!

You might want to check your RAM speed. Are you sure it's running at 2133 MT/s? You might need to go into your BIOS and enable the DOCP profile to boost it. That's likely holding you back. Also, consider upgrading your CPU to one of the Ryzen 5000 series like the 5600X or 5800X, as that could give you a significant performance boost.
Upgrading your RAM speed will definitely help! Make sure to enable the OC profile in your BIOS. If you can snag a secondhand Ryzen 5 5600 or 7 5700X, that’d be a solid upgrade for reasonable cost.
I agree with TechieGuru84. Your RAM speed is a limitation right now. After you adjust it, keep an eye on your GPU utilization while gaming to ensure you’re getting the most out of your setup. Upgrading to a Ryzen 5 5600 or any of the 5800 series CPUs would be a great investment too.
