Looking for Guidance to Transition from Front-End to Full-Stack Development

Hey everyone! I've been working as a front-end developer for over five years, primarily with React. Lately, I've been feeling a bit stuck, especially during tech interviews because I'm not familiar with the right terminology. I'm eager to enhance my skills and eventually transition to a full-stack developer. I'm particularly interested in learning backend development, so I would appreciate recommendations for good courses. I'm based in Canada and I'm willing to invest in quality education that provides results. Also, I'm curious if going back to school part-time to earn a bachelor's degree is worth it. Any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Definitely read the React documentation thoroughly. There's no better way to solidify your knowledge than to go through the official docs from start to finish.

Since you're in Canada, I’d recommend looking into Java or .NET for backend development. They dominate job markets and are often less competitive than Node.js, which a lot of newcomers try to learn. Focusing on in-demand technologies like these can give you a better edge.

If you're keen on full-stack, just dive into a project! Choose a tech stack, and start building—don't stress about picking the 'right' tech stack. Even if you hit some snags, it's all part of the learning process!

A great book to check out is 'The Pragmatic Programmer'. For practicing problem-solving, LeetCode is fantastic, and for frontend design, look into GreatFrontend articles. Once you've decided your tech focus, you can find specific books or courses that align with your goals.
