Hey everyone! I'm in the market for a new Linux distro and could really use some recommendations. Here are my laptop specs: it has 4 GB of RAM and an AMD A4-3300M APU with a Radeon 6480G GPU. It originally came with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, so I'm looking for something that won't be too heavy on resources but still looks decent and is user-friendly. Any suggestions?

Don't sleep on MX Linux with XFCE as well! I’ve heard good things about it for your specs. You should also consider Zorin OS; it’s designed to look and feel a bit like Windows, which could help in your transition.
Consider trying Linux Mint with the XFCE version or Zorin OS Lite. They're both great for lower-spec machines and have a friendlier interface for those switching from Windows.
You might want to check out the distro selection page for more choices! Just remember to always back things up, and maybe try them out in a VM before you commit to installing. It’s a world of difference from Windows, so take your time to explore!
I've had good experiences with MX Linux using the Fluxbox session. It’s lightweight and really solid for older hardware. Legacy OS and FunOS are also options to look at!
For a lightweight environment, I'd suggest looking into any LXQt-based distros like Lubuntu or the LXQt spin of Fedora. They're super light and have a Windows-like feel, which might make the transition easier for you. If you're also comfortable with XFCE, that could work too, but personally, I find it a bit less user-friendly than LXQt.
I totally agree! LXQt has been my go-to for lightweight systems. It’s resource-efficient but has a modern look, plus recent updates have really improved it.
Thanks for the tips! I'll definitely look into these options!
