I've got an RCA tablet model RCT6378W2 that I picked up for $90 (though it's only around $50 on eBay). It's running Android 4.2.2 with a kernel version from 2013, and it only has 8GB of storage, with about 2.36GB taken up by the firmware. I'm hoping to install a new operating system on it that's lightweight and doesn't have any flashy splash screens. Any suggestions? Also, side note: the screen adjusts brightness based on the viewing angle, which is pretty neat! I've been considering upgrading the screen to a bigger one and getting a protector too.

You're in a tough spot here. Since it's an Android device with an ARM processor, you can't just use any Linux ISO. If the bootloader is locked, your options are pretty limited. Plus, with such an old kernel, you may not find compatible drivers for newer distributions. You might want to explore custom Android ROMs instead if you're looking to mess with it further! Good luck!

How do I find that out? Is it something I can Google or does it show up on the tablet itself?
