I'm working on a side project where I need to send OTPs and alerts, but the SMS APIs I've found so far, like Twilio and Telnyx, seem way too complex and pricey for what I need. Does anyone know of a simpler, more straightforward option that's reliable but doesn't come with a ton of unnecessary features?

Have you tried Plivo? I made a wrapper for it ages ago and it was pretty easy to use back then. Not sure how it's changed, but you could give it a shot.
MessageBird could be an option too, though I think they've shifted their focus a bit recently.
If you're in the UK, you could look into FireText. They offer SMS services, but I find their entry-level pricing to be a bit high, around 5p per SMS. Just something to watch out for!
I totally understand your struggle with Twilio. I found it pretty straightforward too, but I also think it offers more than what’s necessary for basic projects. You might want to check out SignalHouse. Their approach seems more developer-friendly, and the documentation is really clear. Plus, the API is simple to integrate without extra hassle, which is a huge time-saver during testing.
