Hey everyone! My girlfriend's PC just bit the dust, so we're building a new one using an AM5 setup. We're almost done but still need to find a good motherboard that pairs well with the AMD 9800X3D. I've heard mixed reviews about various brands and honestly, the motherboard market feels overwhelming right now. We recently returned an NZXT N9 x870e and are looking for stable alternatives. Both 870E and 670E options are on our radar, but we want to avoid any known issues. What motherboards do you guys recommend that won't give us headaches and fit within a reasonable budget? If you need more details on the build, just let me know. Thanks in advance!

I’ve built a few systems with the B850 chipset and it seems to be the best bang for the buck right now. I’m going with the MSI B850 myself, but I would definitely steer clear of ASRock; I've seen too many issues reported with their boards and the 9800X3D.
Avoid the ASRock and that NZXT board, I've heard they have high failure rates with the 9800X3D. MSI and Gigabyte are solid choices, while Asus has some bloatware issues that you might want to consider. Honestly, for most people, even a basic B650 would work just fine.
I've been using the MSI X670E Gaming Plus WiFi with my 9900X chip, and it’s been rock solid. I push it to 100% regularly without any problems. The 9800X3D should work just as well since they have similar power requirements. Just a heads up—while it doesn’t have USB4, it’s one of the more affordable X670E boards if that’s not a deal-breaker.
For the 9800X3D, I’d recommend the ASUS X670E TUF or the MSI B650 Tomahawk WiFi. Both have stable BIOS updates and solid power delivery. You should have a smooth experience with either of these.
Just installed my 9800X3D on a Gigabyte AORUS B850 Elite Wifi7 and I'm really satisfied with it! It’s been performing well so far, definitely worth checking out if it fits your budget.
Thanks for the info! Was your motherboard easy to set up? Any specific parts you're running with it?
