Looking for Motherboard Recommendations for My New Build

I'm putting together a new gaming PC and need some help choosing the right motherboard. I currently own a prebuilt PC that I've had for about six years, but it's starting to give me issues. This time, I'm excited to build my own system. I've decided to go with the AMD Ryzen 7 9800x3D for my CPU and the Thermalright Phantom Spirit for cooling.

Right now, I'm leaning towards the MSI MAG B850 TOMAHAWK MAX WIFI ATX AM5 motherboard, but I'm open to other recommendations. I've been doing my research, but I'm still a bit of a newbie and want to make sure I'm making the right choice. My goal is to create a high-performance setup for gaming, as well as for editing and streaming. I'm aiming to keep my total budget around $2,500 for all the components, but I might stretch it a bit for the best overall build.

Honestly, any decent motherboard will do the trick, and the Tomahawk is well-regarded among gamers. Nowadays, it’s more about personal preference rather than functionality, unless you have specific needs. Just avoid Asrock if you can.

The Tomahawk is a solid choice! If you're looking to save a bit, the B850 Gaming Plus Wifi is also a great board, especially if you don’t need multiple M.2 ports since it only includes a heatsink for one. But honestly, both boards are very similar, so you can't go wrong!

Have you considered the Gigabyte B850 Gaming X? It’s another great board. Just a heads up, the price for the Tomahawk Max seems to have shot up recently, so keep an eye on that!

Yeah, I noticed that too! Gigabyte does have some options, but their recent boards have different slot configurations, which can be a bit confusing.

That's a great option you've picked! The Tomahawk is known for its performance.
