Hey everyone! I'm a high school video editor aiming to enhance my PC setup for better rendering times and overall productivity. I've been using Premiere Pro and After Effects, and I'm starting to dabble in Houdini. My current build is around 5 years old, featuring an AMD Ryzen 5 2600, an MSI GeForce 1650 Super, 32 GB of Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 RAM, a Gigabyte B450 S2H motherboard, a 1 TB Samsung 990 EVO Plus SSD, and a 500W power supply. I also have a slower 2 TB SeaGate Barracuda HDD.
I'm working with a budget of about $1,000 and am mostly focused on upgrading my RAM and CPU. What parts would you recommend for these upgrades? Any advice would be super helpful!

If you're still on the AM4 platform, sticking with your current motherboard and RAM is a smart move. Just a tip: since you're not gaming hardcore, focus more on the CPU upgrade. The 5800X will give you a noticeable boost. If you want, you can also expand your RAM to 64GB to really help with video editing tasks, but check if there are extra slots available first!
Since videography is your main focus, consider what kinds of projects you're working on now and your future plans. If you're doing mostly student films and want to freelance a bit, a solid upgrade could be the AMD Ryzen 5800XT or an RTX 5070 12GB GPU. Just make sure you get a new 850W power supply for stability. And definitely look into increasing your RAM if your motherboard can handle it, or you might want a complete RAM upgrade to 64GB for better multitasking.
