Hey folks! I was recently laid off from my job as an Associate Software Engineer after some restructuring, and now I'm on the hunt for my next opportunity. This experience has really made me want to strengthen my skills, especially since I've been feeling a bit of that imposter syndrome creeping in. I've never been someone who dives into coding projects for fun, but I'm ready to change that. What I'm looking for are some solid resources or guides that can help me make impactful projects, ideally starting from easy ones and progressing to harder challenges. I want to work on projects that incorporate common software engineering stacks and workflows. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Definitely consider contributing to open source projects! It’s a great way to build your skills and collaborate with others.
I highly recommend checking out The Odin Project. It's a comprehensive course that focuses on building projects from scratch, which could really help you grow as a developer.
It's interesting you mentioned wanting to create projects, but it sounds like you've been more focused on general software work. Could you clarify what your specific skills are? It'd help narrow down the best resources for you.
I appreciate that! I was mainly focused on basic SWE tasks, but I'm looking to branch out into more project-based work like a todo list or something similar.
You might want to check out the '100 Days of Code' challenge. It's really focused on Python but could be modified to work with other languages too. Or, create your own version of something that exists to really get your hands dirty!
Thanks for the tip!
