I'm setting up some AV infrastructure for a nonprofit organization and we're in need of a good projector. I've got a bit of AV knowledge, but projectors aren't my specialty. I'm leaning towards a laser projector since they don't require bulb replacements, but I'm open to suggestions on specific models or brands. Any recommendations?

What are the expected lifetime and room size? Also, are you considering ceiling mounting? Keeping the room dark or dealing with natural light can influence what you choose. I used to have great luck with Panasonic projectors in classrooms, but I’m a bit out of the loop now.

It really depends on what you're planning to use it for. For example, cinema projectors tend to have better contrast, but they might not be as bright. Classroom projectors, on the other hand, are brighter but can lack in contrast. Also, keep in mind the bulb replacement intervals can range from 1,000 to 5,000 hours, and whether you’ll want OEM bulbs. If this is for a large auditorium, it might need a power supply that requires 240V, while classroom projectors can be much less demanding.
Yeah, definitely. I’ve seen some of these projectors run really hot, so ventilation is key. We had a Panasonic model for a large room, and it heated up the space significantly, which was an issue.
Sounds like this will be a conference room setup. They will likely need something bright enough for that.

It’s ceiling mounted about 20 ft from a white wall, and works well even with a lot of natural light, as long as the room lights are turned off.

We're looking at a lifetime of 10-15 years. For resolution, I suggested a minimum of 1080p, but 4K would be better for future-proofing. The room is about 22’ wide by 38’ long and it's windowless, with some recessed lighting. They're willing to invest in a solid long-term solution.
