Looking for SSD Recommendations for a Budget Gaming PC

I'm building a budget gaming PC for my son, and I'm pretty much set with everything except for the storage. The motherboard doesn't support NVMe, so I need a solid SSD that can handle decent write and download speeds. I want to keep the budget around $200 and aim for about 1TB of storage since games just keep getting bigger. Eventually, I plan to upgrade to better hardware in a few months once he shows he can handle it responsibly, but I don't want to splurge on high-end options just yet.

Honestly, for a budget build, just grab the cheapest no-name SSD you can find on Amazon. There are options for around $20-30, and if it doesn't work out, you can just return it easily with Amazon's return policy.

The 870 EVO or the MX500 are reliable SATA drives, especially if your setup doesn't support NVMe. Make sure to look for options with DRAM cache for better performance. You can often find good deals on used drives on eBay, too.

The TeamGroup CX2 1TB is just $50 and will more than meet your needs for a budget build.

You might want to check out the Samsung 870 EVO SATA drives, which you can find for under $100 each. If you can stretch your budget a bit, the 2TB version is around $170. They offer great performance, and since you mentioned NVMe isn't an option, SATA is your best bet.

Both the Samsung EVO and Kingston drives are solid choices if you're looking to save some cash.
