Looking for the Best Budget 4TB M.2 PCIe 4.0 SSD with DRAM

Hey everyone! I'm planning to upgrade my boot drive since my motherboard only has one M.2 slot available. Right now, I've got a stock 1TB SSD, but I'm looking to swap it out for a 4TB drive. I'm considering the Fanxiang S770 because I've had great experiences with it in my PS5, achieving read/write speeds over 6500 MB/s. I'd prefer a drive with DRAM cache rather than HMB for my PC. Most name-brand SSDs I've found are priced around $120-150 for 2TB and over $230-250 for 4TB. I compared the Fanxiang S880 with the S770, and the S880 has HMB and significantly lower speeds. So, I'm curious—are there any better or cheaper options out there than the Fanxiang S770 4TB for under $200? With an eBay sale going on, I can snag it for just under $198. It seems like no other brand can match that price and performance, especially since many don't even have DRAM or are slower. Thanks for any suggestions you might have!

Have you thought about whether your tasks really need a DRAM cache? Many NVMe drives with HMB can actually perform just as well in real-life scenarios, with only a minor difference.

I did some digging, and while lots of DRAM-less models are out there, I've noticed they can be slower. The S770 has DRAM and is still cheaper than other brands that don’t perform as well.

Out of curiosity, what makes you trust Fanxiang so much? There are a lot of players in the SSD market.

I’ve actually owned the S770 model for a couple of years now, and it’s been the fastest SSD in my devices. That’s why I’m leaning towards it again!

If you’re looking for a solid 4TB option with DRAM, check out the Acer Predator GM7000, Verbatim Vi7000, or TeamGroup G70 Pro. They all use the IG5236 controller and should be in your price range.

Thanks for the tip! I’ll check those out. Are you sure they're under $200?
