Looking for Upgrade Advice: Switching from a 1660 Super to a Ryzen GPU

Hey everyone! I've been realizing that my 1660 Super just isn't keeping up with my recent gaming habits, especially with STALKER 2. I'm considering upgrading to a Ryzen graphics card since they seem to offer great value. I've had my eye on the Ryzen 7600 XT and the Ryzen 7800 XT. Just to give you some context, my other hardware includes 32 GB of GSKILL DDR4 RAM and a Ryzen 5 5600G. I've heard there might be some bottleneck issues with the 7800 XT, so I'm curious if anyone has thoughts or recommendations. Thanks a ton in advance!

STALKER 2 is really CPU intensive, so you'll likely need a better CPU than the Ryzen 5 5600G. If you're after the best price-to-performance for a card, I suggest the 6700 XT. If you're okay with spending a bit extra, consider the 6800 XT for better performance!

Are you really leaning towards a Ryzen card? I've been hearing positive things about their performance—especially for the price—it could be worth it!

Yeah! Their value is impressive compared to NVIDIA. There's a ton of praise out there about the Ryzen series.

I've also seen great reviews of the Ryzen 4070 if you're considering alternatives!

How much are you looking to spend? If you could snag a 7800 XT on sale, that might be a good move!

I'm thinking around $350–400 if possible. I know the 7800 XT exceeds that, but it was just a thought. The typical price looks to be about $800 here.

The 6700 XT is an interesting option too, showing nearly double the performance over my 1660 Super!

The 7800 XT is a solid choice! It allows for better future upgrades, especially if you decide to get a 5700X or better later on. Just keep in mind to consider other cards with good performance and value too.

The 7800 XT is definitely nice, but it might be pricier than I want. Any budget-friendly alternatives that still perform well?

Honestly, I'd steer clear of AMD. Just go for NVIDIA. The extra cost might save you from a lot of headaches—speaking from experience with a Radeon myself.

I thought AMD sorted out their reliability and driver issues? I've heard decent stuff about them, but I'd love to know more about your experience.

Just a heads up, the 5700X3D or 5800X3D might be a better match for your needs, though they're pricey.
