Looking for User-Friendly Software to Build Simple Websites

I'm on the hunt for software, either online or offline, that can help simplify my website development tasks. I'm a bit old school, having created quite a few simple websites using HTML and CSS. For my new project, I'm interested in a drag-and-drop software solution that can handle a lot of the work for me. I need something akin to Photoshop or Illustrator—where I can easily add images, links, and dropdown menus. It would be ideal if it prompts me for meta tags and then generates the HTML and CSS I need to upload to my own server. I'm not looking for services like WordPress or Wix since I already have hosting set up. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

You might want to give grok.com a look! They have some surprising answers if you explore their platform. Plus, YouTube has plenty of tutorials on Grok 4, so check that out too!

Just an FYI, we’re developing a tool that will do the heavy lifting for you while allowing for complete customization. It’ll feature a Drag-and-Drop interface and even offline capabilities. If that's something you might find useful, we're launching later this year. Check it out at omnisyncs.com!

If you already have a server, why not just install WordPress? It’s quite user-friendly and you can find themes that allow for drag-and-drop design!

You might want to check out TeleportHQ and GrapesJS. They're really close to being the "Photoshop for web development" that you're looking for, but be careful—they do have lots of features that might complicate things a bit if you're going for simplicity. If you're looking for something that focuses more on simple design elements, you could also try QuillJS. Just a heads up, WordPress is free to install if you want to go that route! There are several drag-and-drop plugins like Elementor and Divi that come with limited free plans too.

I’m curious why you don't want to use hosted solutions like Webflow or Divhunt? I mean, they can really make your life easier. Is it a trust issue for long-term hosting or the cost?
