Hey everyone! My 10-year-old PC finally gave up on me (probably the motherboard), and I've decided it's time for a complete rebuild since almost all of my parts are outdated (except for the GPU). I'm watching videos and browsing online, but I'm feeling overwhelmed with all the options and not entirely sure where to start. My budget is flexible; I'm saving up and aim to keep it under 2,000 euros, but I'm not in a huge rush.
I mainly want to play older games like Oblivion, Skyrim, Red Dead Redemption, Witcher 3, Kingdom Come, and newer ones like Kingdom Come 2 and Baldur's Gate 3. I'd love to run these on high or ultra settings with smooth frame rates, mainly for gaming, listening to music, and YouTube.
I'm unsure about components like how much RAM is enough (16GB or 32GB?), the best CPU for my budget, and whether my current PSU (RM850 Corsair) and GPU (1660 Ti) can be reused effectively. I would like to gather suggestions for a full build including the case, motherboard, CPU, RAM, cooling (not water), and any other peripherals. I really want to learn more about the parts, but I need help sorting through all the information. Thanks in advance!

Your RM850 PSU should suffice for most mid-tier builds, but since it's 10 years old, consider replacing it for reliability. If you’re gaming at 1080p, that budget can get you a really nice setup! 32GB of RAM would be a good investment if you want to future-proof your system.
Hey! For a budget of 2,000 euros, you could definitely go for a solid upper midrange build. I'd suggest checking out the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D with an AMD Radeon 9070 XT as a graphics card. PCPartPicker is a great tool for building your setup, but I get it—there's a ton of options and it can be confusing which to choose. Just focus on compatibility and reviews, and try filtering your search for specific categories. Good luck!
I totally get the overwhelm! Just take it one step at a time. Start by picking your CPU and GPU first, then find a motherboard that fits both. The 7800X3D is a strong option, so you’re on the right track!
Definitely plan on at least 1080p gaming! If you can stretch the budget, upgrading to a higher resolution monitor might be worth it for stunning visuals in newer games. A mid-range setup with a Ryzen 7700 paired with a 5070 Ti would give you great performance.
Thanks for the suggestion! I'll keep that in mind, especially since I'm considering future-proofing my build.
You might want to share this request on r/buildapcforme! They have a lot of people ready to help you with full build suggestions. And don’t worry, it happens to everyone—you're definitely in the right place to learn and ask questions!
Oh wow, thanks for the heads-up! I'll definitely consider moving it there if I don’t get much feedback.
Thanks! I appreciate the advice about the PSU. I might replace it since it's quite old, just to be safe.
