Looking to Build My First Gaming PC for Around $1k! Any Tips?

Hey everyone! ❤️ I recently created a post about wanting to build my very first PC setup from the ground up since my old frankenstein computer finally gave up the ghost (it was a warrior, honestly!). I got some advice suggesting I share my budget here and see what you all would recommend!

So, I'm looking at a budget of around $1k for the essential components (CPU, GPU, motherboard, RAM, storage, PSU, cooling) and also a monitor. I want a pink case (specifically the COUGAR FV150 RGB), so I'm hoping for some components in white (or ideally pink, though I know there's a pink tax) to show off.

My gaming preferences include titles like GTA, Fortnite, COD, CS, Once Human, The Last of Us, and Sims 4. I really just need a PC that can run these games smoothly and a decent monitor—I'm a bit lost when it comes to monitor specs since I've only ever used an old Samsung monitor that I thought was great haha!

If possible, I'd love to see your suggestions for the cheapest build (under $1k) as well as what you'd recommend as a top-tier build (between $1k and $1.3k).

Oh, and just to note, I'm currently in Mexico, which could help with finding parts! Thanks so much in advance!

Honestly, if you can save a bit more, that's worth considering. $1k can get you a decent setup, but you might end up wanting to upgrade sooner than you'd like. For peripherals like a monitor, keyboard, and mouse, if you already have some from your old setup, that can save you a bit too. But I see where you're coming from—it’s tough to start from scratch!

Thanks for the tip! I'm definitely keeping my accessory budget separate, so I can focus on the PC parts for now.

Hey! I recommend checking out local components since prices can vary greatly based on your location. But generally, for a solid $1k build, I'd suggest looking into the Ryzen 5 5600X or Intel i5-11400 for the CPU. Pair it with an RTX 3060 or RX 6600 for the GPU, which should run your games smoothly. Make sure you have at least 16GB of RAM and a decent SSD, like a 500GB NVMe for fast load times. As for your case, the COUGAR FV150 RGB looks awesome and will definitely fit your pink theme! Good luck!

Agreed! Those CPU and GPU pairings are solid. Just remember to keep an eye on cooling options, especially if you’re streaming. Good airflow in your case will help a lot!
