I'm considering switching back to Linux after using Windows 11 for gaming, and I'm a bit frustrated with it. I have a capable setup with an AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D processor, SAPPHIRE Pulse Radeon RX 7800 XT graphics, and 32GB of RAM. I game on two monitors, one at 180Hz for gaming and another at 75Hz for browsing. My main activities are gaming, internet browsing, watching videos on YouTube, and occasionally using LibreOffice Writer. I've previously tried Manjaro and Tuxedo OS on other computers. I even put SteamOS on an old mini computer and loved how it handled some games better than my current Windows setup. However, I'm curious if it's a good idea to run SteamOS on my desktop, as I've come across some mixed opinions. I'm looking for a user-friendly distro that supports most Steam games out of the box, requires minimal tinkering, and ideally handles controller inputs better. Any recommendations? Oh, and it's worth mentioning I had to install Caffeine on Tuxedo OS to prevent my monitor from turning off while gaming because it didn't recognize controller inputs. Any tips would be appreciated!

I'd suggest checking out Bazzite for your setup. It's got a solid reputation for gaming on Linux, and it could offer a similar experience to SteamOS without the issues you're running into. Plus, it seems well-optimized for systems like yours!
If you want something a bit different, you might want to consider EndeavourOS or Fedora. They both offer good performance and stability with a decent user experience for gaming. Just take a look at what fits your workflow best!
You might also want to give pikaOS a try! I put it on an older laptop, and it ran smoothly. Gamer reviews are mixed, but it's worth a shot.
Cachyos could be a great choice as well, especially since it’s tailored for power users. It's fast and handles gaming pretty well. I think you'd enjoy its performance with your hardware.
How does it compare to Bazzite in terms of game compatibility?
Garuda Dragonized could be a fun one if you're into its aesthetic. It’s built for performance and has a lot of gaming features integrated, plus it’s visually appealing!
Yeah, I’ve heard good things about Bazzite too! It might just be the right fit for your needs.
