Looking to Upgrade My Gaming PC: Need Advice on Components

I built my PC back in 2020, and it's starting to show its age. I'm struggling to hit 60 FPS in demanding games like Cyberpunk 2077, even using frame generation. My current specs are:

- Motherboard: MSI x470 Gaming Plus MAX
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5700G
- GPU: EVGA NVIDIA RTX 2060 SUPER KO
- RAM: Team T-FORCE VULCAN Z 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 3000
- PSU: Cooler Master MWE 650 WHITE

Given these specs, I think it's time for an upgrade. I recently had to replace my CPU after it died, so I don't think that needs changing again, unless I've made a poor choice. I'm specifically looking to upgrade to at least an NVIDIA 40 Series GPU, but I suspect I might need to upgrade some other parts too, particularly the motherboard. I don't need a motherboard with built-in Wi-Fi since I have a dedicated PCIe card.

I've noticed the G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 32GB DDR4 RAM is priced at around $200, which I'm considering, but I'm open to other suggestions. I'm also thinking about upgrading the power supply, which shouldn't be too costly. My budget is around $700, but I'm flexible and willing to spend more depending on your recommendations! I'm mainly looking for guidance since I'm not up to speed on the current PC building trends. Thanks for any advice! P.S. I'm ready to grab the essential parts now and pick up the less critical components later, especially with holiday sales coming up.

Your current CPU might not be the best option for your setup, especially the Ryzen 7 5700G. Consider updating your motherboard's BIOS first, then swapping to a Ryzen 5700X for better performance. After that, look into the RTX 4070 Super or the RX 7800 XT as good upgrades without stressing your 650W PSU.

What’s wrong with the 5700G? Isn’t it supposed to be decent?

I just finished a build with a Ryzen 7 9700x and an RX 9070; it’s fantastic for 1440p! I highly recommend this setup if you're looking for solid performance.

I have the same build and can confirm, it runs everything smoothly at 1440p!

For $700, upgrading both GPU and other parts might be tricky. You might have to choose one. If you want a GPU, the RTX 5060TIs are going for around $450 on Newegg, which is a significant upgrade. That plus the RAM you mentioned would come to about $650 total, and there are motherboards available for around $130. Just make sure you’re flexible with your budget because holiday discounts could help and a solid investment is key.

That’s a good point! I see those sales too; it’s a great time to upgrade.
