Looking to Upgrade My Old Dell PC for Gaming – Need Advice!

I recently got a Dell Precision T1700 from a friend who upgraded to a newer gaming PC. He mentioned that this machine is more suited for engineering software rather than gaming, and unfortunately, I've found I can't even play Marvel Rivals because it requires at least an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060, while my current graphics card is a NVIDIA Quadro K620. I'm not very experienced with PCs and I'm on a budget, so I'm looking for affordable upgrade options or advice on what graphics card I should consider to improve gaming performance without breaking the bank. Any suggestions?

Since you got the PC for free, it's a decent starter. But if Marvel Rivals is a must, you may want to look for a decent console instead. If you’re willing to tinker around, that’s great for learning, but for serious gaming, a newer build will save you lots of headaches. Stick with some retro gems for now!

Yeah, I have a PS5 for some titles. I’d just like to enjoy some classics on PC. Thanks for the advice!

That Quadro K620 is more suited for design work than gaming, so don’t get your hopes up too high. You're not going to be playing the latest titles with it. If you’re looking for a short-term fix, consider older games or ones that don’t demand much from your GPU. As for playing Marvel Rivals, you might just need a newer system.

That’s a good point! I’m okay playing some older stuff anyway, just wanted to see if there was a chance for newer games too.

Honestly, you might want to reconsider trying to upgrade that old PC. The T1700 is pretty outdated, and while a better graphics card could help a bit, the CPU will likely bottleneck performance. If you're set on PC gaming, it's probably more cost-effective to save up for a modern budget rig instead. You could even check eBay for something like an AMD RX 580 or Nvidia 1070 if you're aiming for a cheaper upgrade.

I get that it might seem like a hassle, but I really want to make this PC work for some older games. I appreciate the suggestions!
