I'm currently visiting Seoul as a tourist and, unfortunately, I lost my passport, wallet, and iPhone in one night. I've managed to get an Emergency Certificate from my embassy and filed a police report, plus I blocked all my cards. However, the big issue I'm facing now is with my Apple account. I've initiated the account recovery process, but Apple has informed me it will take 13-15 days and they can't expedite it, no matter the urgency. I even went to the Apple Store with my digital ID, Gmail access, identification photos, and the police report, but they couldn't help either. I'm worried because I have only about 15 days left in Korea, and I need to secure my device before I leave. Has anyone been through something similar with Apple while abroad? Is there any way to speed up this process?

Unfortunately, Apple generally doesn't expedite account recovery even with proper documentation. Their system is pretty rigid, and personal verification doesn't influence it. However, for future situations, make sure to add a trusted phone number so someone you trust can receive verification codes if you ever need help like this again. Just stay patient for now; there's not much else you can do!
This really highlights the importance of having multiple trusted devices. If you don't have another device to receive verification codes or if a family member can help you remotely, you're kind of stuck in recovery limbo. I totally get how frustrating this is!
If you can log into your mobile provider's account from a computer, you might be able to view or retrieve texts without needing your phone! That could potentially assist you with the recovery process more quickly.
I'm really sorry you're going through this. It's a hassle, but for future reference, keep a strong passcode and add a trusted number for your Apple ID, as that can save a lot of trouble. Plus, Apple has built-in tools to help check the security of your accounts, which can really come in handy! If you find a way to log into your mobile account, you might access your text messages and get some verification done while you sort this out.

Yeah, this is definitely a learning moment for the future. I’ll make sure to set up those safety nets when I get back.
