I'm having a frustrating issue with my monitor. It suddenly started showing a 'no signal' message, even though my laptop detects it. I have my laptop connected to an external monitor, and the setup worked perfectly fine just a day ago. Right now, I can see one desktop but not the one on the external monitor. The only way I can get it to display again is by unplugging the cable and plugging it back in, which is super annoying, especially when the display turns off.
I went into the Nvidia Control Panel and noticed that my max refresh rate is showing as 60Hz instead of the usual 165Hz. I've tried uninstalling both the generic PnP driver and the Nvidia driver, but nothing seems to help. I'm using an RTX 2070 Super GPU. Any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated!

First off, I’d recommend trying a different cable if you have one. Sometimes cables can wear out unexpectedly, even if they’ve worked fine for years. Just to rule that out! It could be the reason why you're experiencing this 'no signal' issue.
Totally get it! Sometimes it can be a sudden failure that you wouldn't expect. Since facing issues with the cable itself is pretty common, checking it doesn’t hurt!
It could be a settings conflict too. Have you checked your display settings in Windows? Sometimes after an update or change, it resets to the lower refresh rate. Just make sure your monitor is set correctly in the settings for both the laptop and Nvidia Control Panel.
I’ll check for a spare cable, but does that really seem like the culprit? I've never had issues with this one before.
