My 7-Year-Old PC is Slowing Down – What Affordable Upgrades Can I Make?

I've had my PC for about seven years, and it's starting to show its age. Recently, I've been getting random blue screen errors and it lags when I open more than two Chrome windows. I don't game much, but I'd like to keep that option open without spending a fortune. I'm thinking maybe a new GPU could help? Here's my current build for reference: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/RZFH4p. Any advice on how to improve performance would be greatly appreciated!

Definitely consider reinstalling Windows or formatting your SSD if it's been acting up. I had parts of my own build running for over a decade, and the biggest improvement came from replacing a faulty hard drive. Sometimes simple fixes can yield great results!

It might be worth doing a fresh install of Windows. If the blue screens keep happening after that, it could point to a hardware issue. Also, since your CPU (2700X) will support Windows 11 eventually, you might want to think about upgrading to that. Just make sure the blue screens stop first to have a clearer view of the problems you're facing.
