My Computer Keeps Black Screening—What Could Be Wrong?

I've been having this frustrating issue where my Nimo portable computer (model N172) randomly black screens after freezing for a couple of seconds. It can happen anywhere from immediately to about five minutes after I start using it. When it happens, I can't do anything except turn it off, and the fans start going wild, but they've always been loud. I don't have the option to share a video demonstrating the problem here, but I'd really appreciate any help!

Based on what you've mentioned, it doesn't sound like a virus issue since your downloads have mostly been from trusted sites like Steam and Itch.io. It might be worth trying some troubleshooting steps before worrying about malware.

Make sure to check your CPU temperature after it runs for a bit. Sometimes overheating can cause these kinds of shutdown issues. You mentioned it gets hot pretty quickly, so that's worth investigating!

I’m not really sure what the exact temp is, but it does get warm really fast when it works.

Have you had this computer for long? Nimo offers a 2-year warranty, so if you're still within that timeframe, you might want to contact them for support.

I’ve only had it for less than a year, so I’m definitely still covered!

It sounds like you might have a RAM issue. I’d recommend running a memtest to check for errors. It’ll give you a good idea if the RAM is failing and causing those black screens. Let it run for a few passes and see what it says!

How would I go about doing that?
