My Computer Won’t Boot After BIOS Changes, What Should I Do?

Hey everyone, I've run into a problem with my desktop after messing around in the BIOS last night. I was trying to diagnose an unrelated Bluetooth issue when I noticed my CPU temperature was super high (149°F). I didn't have anything major running, just standard operations. I adjusted the CPU fan speed from standard to high, and when I tried to exit BIOS, the computer beeped at me and showed a CPU overheat error. Now, it won't even boot up, and I've tried switching the HDMI output and turning off the PSU, but my monitor still refuses to show anything. My desktop is pretty old—it's a 2013 model with an ASUS Z87 motherboard, an i5 CPU, and a used Nvidia 1070. Any advice on how to fix this?

It sounds like your cooler might have failed. Running your PC without a working cooler can seriously damage your CPU and motherboard, even if it was just in BIOS. You should consider replacing the cooler ASAP. If it was an AIO cooler, those can fail sometimes. I recommend checking out some good options from Thermalright—they have great air coolers that are both budget-friendly and reliable, like the Peerless Assassin 90 SE. They’re also compatible with future upgrades.

Wait a sec, my motherboard started beeping too when I was troubleshooting. Does that mean something’s up with the CPU? The fan was still spinning, but you think it could have failed?

Actually, I got everything working again! Turns out it was just a matter of unplugging both my monitor and PSU cables. I'll definitely look into those cooler upgrades though since I'm planning to do more gaming and 3D modeling.
