My Computer Won’t Boot After Removing the CMOS Battery – Help!

Hey everyone, I've been experiencing some major issues with my PC since encountering an overclocking error that said 'fatal error system halted.' After that, turning off the PSU and switching it back on sometimes booted the system, but often I was met with a 'no signal' from the monitor. The PC sometimes turns off and reboots after a few seconds, but I rarely get any display.

I'm using an older setup with an Asus Maximus IV Extreme motherboard, an RX 570 GPU, an i7-2600K CPU, and 16GB of DDR3 RAM at 1333MHz.

After removing the CMOS battery and putting it back in, it powered on once but now I can't get a display at all, even after trying to unplug it for a bit. I really need this PC up and running to stay in touch with people! I even attempted to clock the RAM to 2400MHz, but no luck. Any suggestions?

Have you checked if your motherboard has integrated graphics? If so, switching to that might help. Also, it could be worth leaving the system powered on for more than 10 minutes. And if you have access to a spare PSU or GPU, it might be good to try those out too.

I didn’t leave it on for more than 10 minutes yet, and unfortunately, I don’t have any spare PSU or GPU.

If you're using multiple RAM sticks, try just one in the second slot on the right. Sometimes that's enough to get things moving. If that doesn't work, disconnect your hard drive from the motherboard and try to boot without it.

I have four sticks of RAM, so I'll give disconnecting the HDD a shot!
