My Desktop is Suddenly Super Slow – Any Ideas?

Hey everyone, I'm at a loss here. My desktop is about 5 years old and has a Ryzen 3600 and an RX 5700xt. Recently, I tried to install a new NVME drive for a Linux boot, which led me to move my existing Windows drive because of a BIOS limitation. After making those changes, my Windows booted up super slow, which was strange since it had been running smoothly earlier that same day. I tried different SATA cables and settings in the BIOS but to no avail. I even unplugged the Windows drive to focus on the Linux installation, but I found the same sluggishness there too. Now, I'm stuck not knowing what to do next. Any help would be greatly appreciated! By the way, my motherboard is an MSI B450 Tomahawk Max and my NVME drive is a SanDisk SSD Plus 500Gb, while my Windows drive is a Samsung 860 EVO 500GB.

Is the slowness related to loading data from the drives, or is everything just generally slow? If it's everything, maybe your CPU is throttling due to cooling issues?

I don't think it's a cooling issue since my CPU temps are around 35°C.

Have you tried clearing the CMOS? It can sometimes help reset any weird bios settings that might slow things down.

Yeah, I did clear the CMOS and even updated the BIOS too.

Just to confirm, what motherboard and NVME drive are you using? This could help in troubleshooting further.

I'm using the MSI B450 Tomahawk Max with the SanDisk SSD Plus NVME 500GB. My Windows drive is the Samsung 860 EVO 500GB.
