I'm having a major issue with my Downloads folder. Whenever I try to open it, I get an error saying "C:usersmedownloads is not accessible. The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable." I don't think it's a malware problem since I haven't been downloading anything suspicious. I've also tried various scans and fixes I found online, but nothing seems to work. Can someone guide me on how to fix this?

A good step to troubleshoot the issue is to run a check on your HDD/SSD using Chkdsk. Open a command prompt with admin rights, type in 'chkdsk /f', and hit enter. It'll probably ask if you want to schedule it for the next reboot—just say yes and restart your PC. After it finishes checking, look in the Event Viewer under Application Logs for the recent Wininit entry to see the detailed results.
You might want to try deleting the Downloads folder and then recreating it. Alternatively, you could just delete it and reboot your computer, which should create a new one automatically. That might solve your issue!
I tried running Chkdsk, but my computer only took about 30 seconds to restart and I can’t find the Wininit log in the application logs. I feel like it didn’t actually scan, no matter how many times I tried.
