My Ethernet Cable Just Stopped Working on My PC, Help!

Hey everyone, I'm really struggling with an internet issue. My Ethernet cable was working perfectly fine until yesterday when it suddenly stopped working on my PC. My fiancé's computer is still connected with no issues. We can connect to Wi-Fi, but the wired connection just won't work on my machine. The cable is brand new and both my PC and the router show a green light, which I assume means they're connected. I've spent hours trying to figure it out by looking up similar issues, but I haven't found a solution. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Have you tried the cable on another device? It sounds like it might be an issue with your PC. If it works fine on a different computer, we can pinpoint the problem to your machine instead of the cable itself.

Yes, it does work on my fiancé's PC, so it's definitely something with my computer.

Could you provide more details about your setup? What operating system are you running? And does your computer show that the cable is plugged in at all?

I'm using Windows 11 with a 13th Gen Intel processor. The Realtek Ethernet connection isn't even listed in my device manager under network adapters, which is strange. My fiancé and I can't see the Realtek 2.5GbE family controller there either.

Try going into your network settings and checking for network adapters. You should see at least one for Ethernet. If you find it, try disabling it and then re-enabling it to see if that fixes the issue.

Check if your pets have had a go at chewing the cable. If that’s not the issue, try using a different port on the router or switching out the Ethernet cable altogether to rule out a faulty connection.
