I've got a brand new gaming PC that I've had for less than a year, but recently it's been acting up. It starts to hitch and stutter, becoming unresponsive even outside of games. When this happens, I can't do anything—I've got to force a hard shutdown just to get it to work again. I've tried closing out a lot of programs to reduce the load, but it still happens randomly with just a few programs running. What could be causing this, and what are the best fixes?

It sounds like this problem started happening recently, so that’s a good clue. First off, check if your drives have enough free space. Windows has a paging file that helps manage memory, and if there’s insufficient space, it can cause performance issues. Just a thought!
Have you installed all your Windows updates, including the optional ones? Sometimes those can help with performance problems like this. It’s worth checking to make sure everything’s current!
I usually let updates install automatically, but I’ll check for any outstanding ones. It might take a bit to see if that fixes the issue, though.
I've only noticed it happening since April, but both my SSDs have about 1.5TB free, so I think space is good. Any other ideas?
